Learning New Words
If you ever visit Belize, you will find it necessary to speak with some Garifuna or Maya people; here we found some of the more usable words for you to take advantage of them:
Garifuna
• Good morning - buiti finafin
• Good afternoon - buiti rabounweyu (bui-ti- ra-boun-we-yu)
• Good night - buiti goñoun (bui-ti- gu-ñoun)
• Food - éigini (éi-gi-ni)
• Price - ebegi (e-be-gi)
• Thanks - seremein (se-re-mein)
• Please - fulesi (fu-le-si).
Mayan
• You Come! - ko’oten
• Drink - uk’ul, uk’ik
• Eat - hanal, hantik
• Enough - ya'ab
• Good, very good - uts, hatsutz
• how much - bahúux
• How many (inanimate) - hai tuul - (animate) - hai p’eel
