The most important cultural center of Belize is the Bliss Institute. Owes its origin and name to the Baron Bliss, an Englishman who came to Belize in the 20's for a vacation. The country captivated him that he left all his fortune. Situated in the zone of the Southern Foreshore Belize City, the Bliss Institute is home to several institutions, among the most distinguish are the National Library and the National Arts Council, regular scenary of concerts and theatrical performances. It also hosts exhibitions of contemporary art, as well such a small collection of Mayan artifacts discovered at the location of Caracol.
